These beautiful Victorian Half Pennies were dug from the earth locally by my friend who is a metal detectorist & as the coins have been in the earth so long they take on this lovely green patina. I decided to cut my own shape out of them, inspired by the art deco period & added a pearl & floral pieces to them. Sitting on the images of a young Queen Victoria are a Thistle & a Clover, cut from Shilling coins. The half wreath is from a Swiss Rappen. The Bar on each earring is framed by bobbles created from melted off-cuts of silver six pences. Because my work is all about detail the earring wire is attached to Oak Leaves cut from silver Six Pence from the 1920s.
These are one of a kind Earrings.
Materials: Coins of silver, copper, mixed alloys, recycled pearl & oxidised silver.
Fittings: Drop Ear - Sterling Silver, oxidised.
